Nicky Barnes
MMA Trainer
At the age of 11, Nick Barnes participated in the martial art of Kenpo karate. He was raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming and it is there where he joined Pineda's Kenpo, earning himself an orange belt before moving to San Diego, California in 2004.
Once in San Diego, Nick attended Bonita Vista High School and graduated in 2009. During his high school years he participated in the sport of wrestling from sophomore year all the way through senior year.During that time he achieved MVP awards from multiple tournaments winning league junior year. During his senior year, he went on to win Metro/ Mesa League, as well as the CIF Division Two Championship, placing him in the masters tournament where he took runner up. Losing only by one point to the top contender in the 162 pound weight class, Ian Roye. This enabled him to participate in the state championships.
Once out of high school, he continued learning combat sports by taking a Judo class at Southwestern College going on to win the schools "Rondori" tournament one semester. After that, desiring the need to further his knowledge in combat, he joined the gym Und1sputed Downtown San Diego. It was here that he learned skills in Muay Thai by instructor Nicolas Cebreros, earning his trunks after a few months of training. From there he joined the Amateur MMA team, taught by Herman Terrado, where he learned proper cage tactics, and skills in Jiu Jitsu. Nick now fights at welter weight, (170 pounds) going on to win 3 amateur fights and moving up to be part of Und1sputed's Pro MMA team, where he has claimed 3 victories and 0 loses.
