Brett Albee (a.k.a. CK, a.k.a. NM, a.k.a. Calogero)
Head Muay Thai Instructor Undisputed Downtown

From the Snowy homelands indigenous to the Sasquatch and Yetti, Brett Albee comes from lands only known as frozen tundra’s. Bringing his particular style of the northern European Muay Thai, this features such moves as the blizzard and abomitable bombtable. Raised in the wild by arctic timber wolves Albee was eventually civilized by a family of archeologists searching for the Holy Grail. Once he moved back to Holland with his adoptive family, Albee began to learn Muay Thai from the local gyms in the neighborhood.

On the serious tip, while serving his country as part of the U.S. Navy, Albee was stationed in Norfolk VA. In 1999, he began studying Muay Thai at Frank Cucci’s LINXX Academy of Martial Arts in Virginia Beach, VA. He began fighter training after training for three months. In 2000, Albee started fighting in an Excaliber production under the WKA. He continued to fight in amateur bouts sanctioned under the WKA such as King of the Ring and Excalibur Extreme Fighting. Trianing under the muay thai style of Arjan Chai, In 2002 Albee moved to train under Buck Grant at Hybrid Academy of Martial Arts.

In 2003 Albee started to learn BJJ and Grappling under Lloyd Irvin Brown Belt, Ken Parham. After training with a giu for four days Albee participated in the 2003 Virginia State Brazilian Jiu Jitsu championships and won the heavyweight division and second in the open. After that Albee was taking trips to Camp Springs, Maryland to train with Lloyd Irvin and his staff in order to increase his BJJ style. In 2003 he won the NAGA worlds BJJ and Intermediate division. In 2006 Albee started fighting mixed martial arts participating in the WKA North American Championships MMA open division where he placed second.

Since he was determined to pursue a fight career he moved to San Diego and started training in Chula Vista at Alliance Academy. He left and found his home at Undisputed Downtown in 2008. Albee has a 2-0 professional MMA record. He fought in his first professional fight in Yuma, AZ in Total Combat 27 winning by TKO in the third round. He recently fought in Yuma again, where they just seem to hate him, in Desert Rage winning by KO in four minutes of the first round.

Albee teaches a hard core system of Muay Thai mixing traditional styles into more modern contemporary cage fighting style. Taking class will teach you solid fundamentals, pushing students to self motivate, increase athleticism with a complete well rounded exercise program. His military teaching style is utilized to push his students beyond their own abilities to reach a higher standard of physical fitness and aggressive muay thai style of fighting. “You will be pushed and like it!” states Albee.

Dave "the Ghost" Ventura
Boxing Coach/Instructor

Born and raised in Southeast San Diego, Dave has been involved in the “sweet science” of boxing for as the past sixteen years. He started to train in boxing at the age of twelve for self defense at Irish Spud Murphy’s boxing gym. Dave has been a member of the USA Amateur boxing Association since 1991. He currently is a registered Coach for the USA BA. During his amateur career he was a Golden Gloves Champion in 1993 and 1994. At a young age of nineteen Dave decided to make his favorite sport into a career, he started working at the Boxing Club boxing gym. For the past thirteen years he has been a boxing trainer, instructor, within the gyms of San Diego. Currently, Dave is the head boxing instructor and teaches morning, afternoon and evening classes. When you take this class, be aware, this is going to be a workout! By mixing in boxing drills, footwork, and controlled sparring with circuit training and cardiovascular regiments, you will burn ample amounts of calories and learn solid boxing techniques.

Nestor “Chorizo” Flores
Boxing Instructor

Born in the inner depths of the Mexican rainforests, Nestor Flores brings the rare styling of Mexican Jungle Boxing here to San Diego. Know for his unorthodox boxing style which includes headbutts, biting and groin punches, “El Pinche” is recognized as the craziest individual to ever grace a boxing ring, or gym or any where for that matter. Teaching only in his native dialect, he is barely understood by native Mexicans, Caucasian, African Americans, pretty much everyone on earth. He has won the world Chingon Title in all weight classes. He won all of his fights by punching his opponents with his signature move the taint uppercut.

But seriously, Nestor Flores is a technical instructor who brings years of experience and knowledge of boxing to the members of Undisputed downtown. Nestor has been training in boxing for ____ years. He has trained in multiple boxing gyms in the Tiajauna and ______ regions of Mexico. Once he moved to San Diego in (year) he started training at ____ gym. He has trained with top notch boxers such as (Big names). His passion for boxing is reflected by his emphasis on proper techniques, timing and execution. He is the boxing instructor for the 6 am and 9 am boxing classes. If you desire to tighten up your boxing skills this is the class for you.

J.D. “Lil’ Ninja” Speck
Head Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor

Martial arts training has been a passion and certain dedication for J.D. from the young age of five. Starting in traditional arts he participated in Tae kwon Do for two years. From that point JD started expanding his training by studying the ancient art of Praying Mantis Kung Fu from 9 until 14 years old. The only known individual to use the secret gonad scrotum snatch technique on a human where he removes the gonads but leave the scrotum sack untouched.

The age of 18, J.D. started fighting in local N.H.B. tournaments. After his first fight he started training MMA at Dynamic Martial Arts with former training partner and professional fighter Clint Godfrey, which accumulated him a record of 7-2, winning five consecutive fights via GUILLOTINE CHOKE SON!!! These fights were held in local bars such as the “The Knuckle Saloon” during the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota. Really, that was the name of the place, I couldn’t make this up.

For the past three years J.D. Speck or “Little Ninja” has been studying under the world famous Barret Yoshida. J.D. is an active competitor winning 2nd place in the 2007 SDWA in Mira Mesa , C.A. He was the 2nd place in 2008 NAGA nationals and 2008 Grapplers Quest in Las Vegas. Currently, he is teaching BJJ with a concentration on No-Gi Grappling. He is a technique-orientated teacher who teaches as Barret would himself. We are glad to have JD as part of the downtown family.

Daniel “Dae Dae” Rhodes
Muay Thai Instructor

Born from the fire of Mt. Saint Helens lava, coming by way of the West Side of Chi Town, WESSSS SIIIIEDE!!!!! Daniel is the new Muay Thai instructor who delivers his fighting passion to the students of downtown. Forged by the USMC at the impressionable age of eighteen, “Dae Dae” as he was called on the block, learned that he was a fighter. After serving his country for four years, he began to study mixed martial arts in 2005 under the tutelage of his cousin Chitown southsides’ own Ed ”9 mm” Ratcliff. While maintaining a career in HVAC maintenance in Corona, CA he trained on the weekends traveling back and forth from his home to San Diego in order to seriously study Muay Thai

In 2007, Dae Dae started to increase his training regime from everyday to twice a day, he became addicted to the game and wanted to pursue it further. He has been studying the art of eight limbs for the past three years. He has participated in several smokers from the Halloween downtown events and North park gym. He also fought in the amateur Muay Thai at the Boxing Zone as well. For the past couple years he has been an employee for Total Combat Productions and Grappling X Inc.

Dae Dae looks to challenge each and every one of his students. With a traditional teaching vibe he commands techniques, traditional response and exercise output of all participants in his classes.

Nico Cebreros
Muay Thai Instructor

Nico Started Training in 1999 in the Sport of Boxing at the Original Convoy Boxing Club under Bill Crawford and Gonzo. He Trained for a number of years and then took up Work that required him to Travel all over the World so his Training suffered. Then one day in 2005 while walking through a Jungle in Guatemala he came upon a street vendor and bought the Film, “Ong Bak” for .99 cents and fell in Love with the Art of Muay Thai. In 2006 he started Training in Muay Thai under UND1SPUTED’s Head Thai Boxe Trainer Scotty. Nico has Trained extensively and even went to Thailand and spent 30 Days in Heaven/Hell Training at the Rawai Camp under the World Famous Trainers Kru Tuk and Kru Bangman.

Nico Teaches Adults and Children Muay Thai Classes and also Holds his own Muay Thai Training Camps modeled after what he experienced in Thailand for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. Nico is available for Private Instruction in Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Conditioning/Weight Training.
